World famous Shahi Litchi of Muzaffarpur (Bihar) is threatened by a Thermal Power Plant

The ‘Shahi Litchi’ is a speciality of the north Bihar district of Muzaffarpur. But the poor air quality in the region is deteriorating the quality of world famous Shahi Litchi. Many people believe that
Muzaffarpur’s bad air quality is because of a thermal power plant installed in Kanti. This thermal power station is run but NTPC.

Apart from making the air quality poor, this thermal power plant has been taking a toll on people’s lives who live nearby this power plant. We spoke to the people of Kothiyan village, many people of this village are asthmatic because of fly ash released from the power plant.
